Materials & Sustainability
Every Georgie Paws product is made from natural materials, with no plastic. Our philosophy is simple: No Plastic. No Landfill. No Nasties.
Our Materials
- Buffalo leather: strong and long-lasting, used for our toys, collars and leads. Sourced from LWG-certified tanneries.
- Vegetable-tanned leather: tanned using plant-based methods.
- Suede: soft and natural, used for many of our toys.
- Coconut fibre: the natural filling inside our toys with a generous "crunch" when sqished.
- Natural jute and cotton rope: used for toy tails, tassels and tug parts.
- Recycled felted wool: used in selected toys.
- Solid brass hardware: buckles and clips that last and can be reused, repurposed and recycled.
Where our Products are made
- Toys: designed in Australia, handmade in India.
- Polo collars and leads: designed in Australia, hand stitched in Pakistan.
- Casey collars: designed in Australia, made in India.
- All other collars and leads: designed in Australia, made in Pakistan.
Our products are made by hand by fairly paid artisans.
What happens at the end of a product's life
- Coconut fibre: can go in your garden compost.
- Leather and suede: compostable. They can take up to 99 years to break down, depending on conditions. A community compost bin is best.
- Brass hardware: remove it before composting and donate it to your local Repair Cafe or Men's Shed, so it can be used again.
Packaging
Our packaging is compostable, right down to the packing tape. It comes from certified suppliers.
Toy Safety
Georgie Paws toys are made for interactive play between dogs and their people. They are not chew toys to leave with your dog unsupervised. Always watch your dog while they play, and discard any worn or damaged parts straight away, including filling and fabric. Dogs should never swallow any part of our toys, collars or leads.
Giving Back
We love supporting our community. We donate Georgie Paws products to help raise funds for sports clubs, schools, animal shelters and dog competitions.
When we're asked for a donation, we look into the organisation first. We work with registered, genuine groups so our support goes where it's meant to.
