What are Georgie Paws dog toys made from?

Veg-tanned buffalo leather and suede, sustainable coconut fibre, natural jute, recycled felted wool, cotton rope, and brass hardware — the exact mix depends on the product, and each product page lists its specific materials. No plastic is used anywhere in a Georgie Paws product.

Are Georgie Paws products really plastic-free?

Yes. No Plastic. No Landfill. No Nasties. is at the centre of how every Georgie Paws toy, collar and lead is designed — from the materials themselves through to the hardware, packing tape, stickers and mailers.

Where are the squeakers?

NOOOO — no squeakers — ever!

• First: They are plastic.
• Second: They are incredibly annoying.
• Third: Dogs simply don't need them — they just generate more landfill.
• Fourth: The coconut fibre is crunchy enough to grab the attention of young bouncy pups right through to the oldest, crankiest of hounds.

Do you have toys for teething puppies?

Yes. Our flat, unfilled leather toys are great for teething. While their adult teeth are coming through, puppies need something to gnaw on, and these give them a much better option than your shoes, the furniture or other hard surfaces.

Our teething toys are the Footy Boot, Sigrid Slipper, Icy Pole, Flora Bone, Chewy Jandal, Barb the Bell and Christmas Tree.

• Made for soft puppy teeth: great for gnawing on while the sharp pin teeth fall out, until the adult teeth appear.
• Once the adult teeth arrive: they're much stronger and may shred the leather. From then on, it's a toy for tug, fetch and play together.
• Always supervise: stay nearby while they chew, and remove any loose or torn pieces straight away.

My dog is a power-chewer. Which toy will survive?

Honestly? If your hound has jaws like a crocodile, no toy will win that fight. Not ours, not anyone's.

For serious chewers, you might be better off giving up on toys and asking your vet about a suitable raw bone from your local butcher. Never cooked, as cooked bones can splinter. Save our toys for tug, fetch and play together.

Where are Georgie Paws products designed and made?

Every Georgie Paws product is designed in South Australia and handmade by skilled craftspeople in India and Pakistan, in small businesses we know and work with directly.

• Toys: designed in Australia, handmade in India.
• Polo collars and leads: designed in Australia, hand stitched in Pakistan.
• Casey collars: designed in Australia, made in India.
• All other collars and leads: designed in Australia, made in Pakistan.

Why buffalo leather and not kangaroo?

Buffalo leather is a natural by-product of the meat industry. It doesn't stretch or mould easily, which limits its use in fashion but makes it perfect for durable dog toys, sturdy collars and leads. It stays strong and supple, even for dogs who are in and out of the water.

Our leather comes from tanneries that have been audited by the Leather Working Group (LWG), which checks how tanneries manage chemicals, water and waste.

Has your leather been tested for harmful dyes?

Yes. The leather used in our toys and Casey collars has been independently lab tested by SGS for banned azo dyes, and passed.

Are Georgie Paws products compostable?

Yes, our natural materials are compostable.

• Coconut fibre and jute: can go straight in your garden compost.
• Leather and suede: compostable, but they break down slowly and need a helping hand. Cut or shred them into small pieces and add them to your home compost. Or, if your local council accepts it, pop them in your green waste bin to be composted at a larger facility.
• Brass hardware: remove it first and donate it to your local Repair Cafe or Men's Shed, so it can be used again.

Is it safe to leave my dog alone with a Georgie Paws toy?

No. Georgie Paws dog toys are designed for interactive play between humans and their dogs. They are NOT a "set and forget" toy to leave your dog alone with. That includes our teething toys.

• Supervise play: always be with your dog while they play.
• Inspect regularly: remove any worn or damaged parts straight away, including filling and fabric.
• Prevent swallowing: dogs should never eat any part of our toys, collars or leads.

How do I care for my leather Georgie Paws lead or collar?

• Everyday care: wipe with a damp cloth. No detergent needed.
• Muddy (or your dog found something smelly to roll in): wipe with a damp cloth and a small drop of hand soap, then wipe clean with a damp cloth. For plaited or hand-stitched designs, use a damp, soft toothbrush to clean between the leather strips or stitching.
• Let it air dry naturally, away from direct heat.
